there were two things i was certain of when i got engaged
the guy i was going to marry
and that there would be mason jars at my wedding
lots of them
everything else seemed to fall into place
around all the mason jars of course
...and then came baby...

hungry monday: quick & easy pumpkin treat

+

=

happy halloween all you goblins & goblettes!

normally i like to cook & bake from scratch, but when you have a mini person to care for and last minute guests, it's always helpful to have a go-to snack in your pantry. this one is super easy and i almost always have the ingredients on hand (including the box of pumpkin mix from TJ's!)

i added chocolate chips to up the ante because, let's be honest, chocolate makes everything better. (little tip, toss the chocolate chips in a small amount of flour before adding to the batter to prevent the chips from sinking to the bottom)

pop this puppy in the oven, let it bake for about 50 minutes and your home will smell out of this world. when i'm feeling ridiculous decadent, i put a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top and call it a day.

if this isn't THE way to propose, i don't know what is...

{via cool haus}

ice.
cream.
sandwich.

sinking my teeth into any of the above treats would be worth the trip through either of the tunnels this weekend. if you live in austin, los angeles or nyc, be sure to check out the coolhaus website to find out where an ice cream sandwich truck is stationed near you.

and if you don't live near an ice cream sandwich truck, make your own!!

i love this chewy oatmeal chocolate chip recipe paired with some good ol' häagen-dazs vanilla ice cream. now you've got yourself a homemade I.C.S. to enjoy! voila : )

whimsy decor: taking a cue from the children's section

hubs and i were living in a quaint (aka, ridiculously small) one-bedroom apartment in new york city when we had our little baby boy. we lasted a whole six weeks (above a wine bar!) before hightailing it to the suburbs in hopes of a larger abode, fresher air and some peace and quiet. we were able to find the first two quite easily, but p&q is a loftier goal with a child.

the fact that we pay the same rent now for about 42 times more space is just glorious. what's not glorious is furnishing all this space with the money we were hoping to save by moving out of the city!

i came across some great finds while perusing a few children's websites & catalogs (it's a new past time). some things i've purchased with the baby in mind, but most of the whimsical decorating items i've bought have yet to end up in the nursery! the best part is that most of these items cost a fraction of what "grown-up" decor will set you back. so have a little fun, save a little dough and start shopping (with or without a little one in mind!!)

hello again, friends!

{ceo, a thousand mason jars}

friends, romans, countrymen & all you lovely ladies, i'm back and boy does it feel good!

here's the thing, i had a baby about 5 months ago and, well, life changed. i now have an adorable little baby boy, a lot less free time, and a whole new world of inspiration.

while i still truly love all things wedding, as expected, i've developed a love for all things baby. i've also learned to let things go, laugh about the things you can't control and enjoy all the small moments. for example, leaving the house showered is a new daily goal.

i'm embracing mommy-hood, but rediscovering "me-hood," and plan to blog about it all from this new perspective. hope you're along for the ride and i look forward to your comments and advice!!
