there were two things i was certain of when i got engaged
the guy i was going to marry
and that there would be mason jars at my wedding
lots of them
everything else seemed to fall into place
around all the mason jars of course
...and then came baby...

name, please?: plantable name cards

{via afterglow photos}

i had about three hundred and forty two different ideas when it came to name cards & table assignments. everything from sticking a card in a fresh piece of fruit to photoshopping baseball cards had crossed my mind. we finally settled on plantable doves because they doubled as favors, were eco-friendly and, in my opinion, easy on the eye.

we typed up everyone's name & table assignments on clear labels & attached to the back of the doves. instead of just having the little guys lay flat on a table, we used raffia to hang them from branches that were arranged in large flower pots.

the hubs & i met in san francisco before migrating back to the east coast and had so many memorable places that we wanted to share with friends and family. we decided to use all of those places as table names & included a short description on the back explaining why it was so meaningful to us. some were as specific as street addresses, while others covered a whole country!

we combined my dad's crafty calligraphy skills & some handy clear labels once again to create the table displays. we stuck reeds in each centerpiece and attached the table cards on top. done & done.

how did you settle on your place cards & table assignments?
any fun ideas to share?
