there were two things i was certain of when i got engaged
the guy i was going to marry
and that there would be mason jars at my wedding
lots of them
everything else seemed to fall into place
around all the mason jars of course
...and then came baby...

one bridesmaid dress, 15 ways & then some: twobirds bridesmaid

{via twobirds}

we took a gorgeous train ride along the hudson river this past weekend to a wedding in upstate new york.
no, not chelsea's, but for a great guy & gal that were head over heels.

while their wedding day was filled with many beautiful details, it was the gray convertible bridesmaids dresses that caught my eye. each bridesmaid donned a flattering style that fit her figure best. i struggled to pick a favorite as each gal walked down the aisle in their custom fit. they all looked stunning!

at somewhat of a steep starting price ($270), it might help to do some math. sorry, i'm married to a nerdy numbers guy and sometimes it rubs off. if you figure the dress has the ability to be styled at least 15 ways, and you perhaps like 6 of those styles, then that actually brings the cost per style to $45. quite a steal if you look at it that way! get it? i hope so, because too much math hurts my head.

any other designers out there doing something similar? or any other ideas for repurposing an old bridesmaid dress?

I don't know of other bridesmaid dresses that are as dynamic as Two Birds, but here are some ways to make your bmaids happy with purchasing a dress. 1) Pick a designer and a material and allow your bridesmaids to pick the silhouette that fits them best! 2) Select a color(maybe one that the shades don't differ to dramatically like black or navy) and a length and ask them to purchase their own dress. 3) As a gift to them help defray some of the cost of the dress. Some of my personal fav bmaid dress designers include: Melissa Sweet, Jenny Yoo, Simple Silhouette and Jcrew!

Victoria's Secret has convertible dresses as does a label "Mai Tai," which I own. I have worn mine on 3 separate occassions and have felt beautiful each time.

ooh i love this post! my three lovely bridesmaids are wearing the grey two birds butterfly dresses. between the million ways to wear it and the one size fits all sizing, it might be the most perfect dress every made :)
